PERU, Lima, gold cob 2 escudos, 1709 M, NGC MS 65 (1715 Fleet Shipwreck Label), "top pop," ex-McGregor. S-L28; Cal-1827; KM-36; Fr-9. 6.75 grams. Highly lustrous with very sharp, crisp details in the full cross-lions-castles and pillars-and-waves, also with choice 100% full crown with bold (R)EXA to its left (proving at least the intent to put a second date in the legend that early, the A standing for ANO = year), clear PHILIPPVS, tied with two others (inexplicably listed as "1709 Philip V") for finest in the NGC census. From the 1715 Fleet, with Sedwick photo-certificate, pedigreed to the McGregor Collection (stated on label).
